Our club events for 2014 are now updated in the calendar. If you’d like a PDF copy of the Fun Flys, you can download that here.
Have a great Christmas!
Just a reminder that the BCKA club fly is Monday, November 11th at Garry Point in Richmond.
Members and Kite flying Friends…Please save this date!
The BCKA annual Christmas party will be held Sunday December 8th. Please join the BCKA at the ABC Country Restaurant (3580 #3 Road, in Richmond).
The Club’s Christmas party will coincide with the annual “Snow Queen” fun fly, and, considering many of our kite flying friends will be in town that weekend, we invite them to join us in celebrating the festive season together. Dinner will be held at 4:30, allowing plenty of time for flying during the day, and socializing in the evening.
Please spread the word, and here’s hoping many of you will attend!
More details about the evening will be sent out as the date grows nearer.
The Executive, BCKA
The BCKA now has it’s very own Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/pages/British-Columbia-Kitefliers-Association/189932907859764 ) and as the first order of business, a huge shout out to Ray Bethell, who was awarded one of kitings highest honours last night at the AKA’s Grand Nationals in Seaside, Oregon.
From the AKA’s website, a description of the award :
“The Kiteflier of the Year will be a person who, during their lifetime, will have shown friendly, loving, fair, and even-handed concern for:
- People in general, but kitefliers in particular,
- Kiteflying in general, but for craftsmanship and technical developments in particular, and
- Communication in general, but for leading and participating in kite events in particular.
This certainly describes Ray! Known worldwide for his kiteflying, we can think of nobody better suited to win this award. Congratulations Ray!
