Dear Members…

Plans for the Spring Sewing for Summer Soaring kite making retreat have just been finalized. This three day kite making retreat will be held in Parksville, Friday May 11 to Sunday May 13. Attached please find information and a registration form to apply for this fantastic kite making weekend.

Please mark your calendars for this special event. Registration closes on March 31st. Below, you can find two PDFs, one is the registration form, one is the schedule.

Spring Sewing for Summer Soaring 2012

At our AGM last week the attending members voted unanimously to once again sponsor a Parksville Sewing Retreat in 2012. To make this event even better in it’s second year, input from all BCKA members would be appreciated. For this reason, the planning committee invites members to submit ideas for workshop classes and/or instructors you would like to lead a class. We would also appreciate hearing from any member who is interested in leading a class. To facilitate planning in a timely manner, please submit your suggestions by December 18.

The tentative date is May 11, 12 & 13, 2012 with confirmation to follow by the end of November.

Well, the annual AGM has come and gone and with that, we have a new Executive elected.

Well, some new faces. :D Barbara Percival is now the president, Don Lord is the Vice President, returning as Secretary is Cathy Jung, Joanne Lord retains the spot of Treasurer, Nigel will continue to pop out a Windsox once in a while ( ) and I (David Hathaway) remain as the webmaster.

Colin Woods took some pictures as well, enjoy!

Whidbey Island Festival

Just a short jaunt down the road, the Whidbey Island Kite Festival is one of the best little festivals in the Pacific Northwest. For me, it was the very first festival I ever went to back in 1996 and it remains a gem. if you need information on getting there, places to stay or the sport kite competitions, look no further, it’s all right here :
