Founded in 1980, the British Columbia Kitefliers’
Association (BCKA) is incorporated under the Society Act of British Columbia as a
non-profit organization dedicated to promoting interest and participation in the
making and flying of kites.
BCKA members believe that kiting is for everyone: all ages and all levels of
kite expertise are welcome. Members get together for fly-ins and workshops and take
part in Kite Festivals in B.C. and the rest of Canada, the neighbouring states of the
U.S. and sometimes in other parts of the world. These events offer opportunities to
make new friends around a shared interest and to see intriguing and varied kite
creations.
In addition, in the spring and summer months, we actively conduct kitemaking
workshops in schools and community centres to teach children (and
sometimes their parents) the sheer joy of making a kite all by themselves that will
really FLY! Helping out at one of these events is an exhilarating experience.
BCKA patches and pins may be purchased for $5.00 each.
