It is that time of year again! The Editor of the Windsox requests submissions of articles, photos, and interesting kite related bits of information for the next edition of the Windsox.
If you’ve been to a festival abroad, please tell us about it! A short article with photos would be nice and would help members keep up with news from within the kiting world, near and far.
Here are some possible suggestions:
Rhododendron Festival in Burnaby
Parksville Sewing Retreat
Pacific Rim Festival in June at Vanier Park
Parksville Kite Festival
Party at the Point
Dieppe Kite Festival
News from the kite board and buggyer’s (Kite Clash)
Washington State Kite Festival
Ray Bethel Banner Tribute
Fun Fly’s you’ve attended
News about upcoming events would also be appreciated!
Please submit your photos to email@example.com
Thanks and looking forward to a great issue!
Our monthly club fun fly is this coming Sunday, August 11th at Centennial Beach in South Delta!
Rosemary Meyer was a past president of the BCKA many years ago, her son, Lucas contacted us the other day to inform us of her passing.
Rosemary Margaret Meyer, age 81, passed away peacefully June 13 at Fairhaven United Church Home, Vancouver, BC. Predeceased by her loving husband, John, survived by her children and their partners, Lucas Meyer and Susan Weber; and Monica and David Hinch, she will be remembered for her wit and many interests. As Divisional Chair at VCC (late 70’s) she established the HomeFront Program, which helps new Canadian homemakers learn English. She was also a renown kite enthusiast and a BC Kite Flyers past president. A service will be held at 2 PM on July 13, 2013 at St. John’s Shaughnessy Anglican Church, 1490 Nanton Avenue, Vancouver, BC. The family wishes to thank the staff of Fairhaven for their devoted care. In lieu of flowers, donations to BC Cancer Society.
Just a reminder about the Fun Fly on Monday July 1 at Garry Point Park in Steveston.
Hoping for dry and sunny skies to celebrate Canada’s 146th birthday!
Hope to see many of you there.
While the weather wasn’t entirely ideal on Saturday (but, hey, it didn’t rain!) Sunday was simply gorgeous down at Vanier Park and the BCKA would like to thank everyone that came out. Often club members don’t end up getting many pictures because we’re usually busy flying. However, Wayne Worden sent this flickr set into us, they are great pictures!
