Dear Members and friends,
The Executive would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who attended, participated and pitched in to help make the 39th annual Pacific Rim Kite Festival a huge success. We welcomed our international visitors Larry and Mary Zyler from Washington State, and Mike and Fran Goddard from the United Kingdom. We had some wonderful demonstrations from our quad line team Island Quad, and a returning visit and demo from past member Tristan Underwood. A special thanks to Nigel Spaxman and Cal Yuen for manning the sound tent. Our vendors supplied us with some tasty treats. Despite the light winds, we had a nice array of color in the sky, dotted by the odd sled kite made in our workshop tent. We welcomed a generous $2000.00 donation from ReturnIt, our local recycling company, and had both their mascot and ours, Mr. Kite (aka Taran Sukert), walking the field greeting our visitors.
The weather was predictably unpredictable, and we had to dash under the tents to avoid the thunder and lightning, but this did not seem to dampen the spirits of the participants nor spectators.
Once again, thanks to all who attended and we look forward to 2015, when the Club will celebrate its 40th Pacific Rim Festival anniversary.
Cheers and all the best for a wonderful summer of flying!
The Executive, BCKA
