For as long as I knew Ray Bethell, he would consistently say that Cervia was his favorite festival in the world. Due to a strange sequence of events and situations, I was able to help bring Ray back to Cervia one last time. Gary Mark had heard I was going to Cervia (which I have wanted to go to since 1997, no doubt due to Ray constantly raving about the place!) and between him, Mark Bethell and Jon Trennepohl supplying parts, I was able to transport Ray’s final set of 5 Kestrels to Cervia. We fixed them up, they got some air time and the entire festival this year as dedicated to Ray. The town loved the man and and it clearly showed across the whole festival.
